Professional Peoria Daycare Offered at PALS
Conscious Discipline Techniques by Dr. Becky Bailey are used at PALS Praise and Leadership Schools. Classroom control and learning self-control are results of attending our Peoria daycare.
Seven Tenants
Dr. Becky’s Seven Skills of Discipline are the foundation that model appropriate behavior for children. These include:
- Composure: learning to delay gratification and manage anger
- Encouragement: kindness, caring, helpfulness
- Assertiveness: setting boundaries and preventing bullying
- Choices: lead to impulse control and reaching goals
- Empathy: perspective, emotional regulation
- Positive Intent: for cooperation and problem-solving
- Consequences: Learning from your mistakes
Types and Importance of Play
Creative playtime is valuable and important at PALS Praise and Leadership Schools. Playtime is interspersed with activities, music, games and quiet times of meditative rest.
Children need to experience life, develop social skills and cognitive reasoning through adult-supervised play. Playing is how children learn to make sense of their world.
What Ages Come to PALS?
Children aged six weeks to six years are welcome at our Peoria daycare. There are special programs offered in the summer for school-age children.
PALS is open to full-time enrollment as well as permanent part-time days. Because our classes fill fast, and we often have a waiting list, we cannot take children on a drop-in basis.
While PALS has a vigorous non-discrimination policy for the children we serve, we are not licensed to serve children with physical/emotional/severe behavioral problems.
What’s to Eat?
PALS provides tasty, nutritious, age-appropriate food for our students. You are welcome to bring in commercially-prepared unwrapped treats to share with the classroom for special occasions. Please check with your classroom teacher on the number of children who attend as well as specific food allergies.
PALS provides hot lunches and snacks to children that are low in fat and sugar and high in nutrition. And we prepare food that children like to eat!
Parents of infants are required to supply their formula and baby food for feeding times.
We do our best to work with food allergies and special nutritional needs, but we cannot accommodate food likes and dislikes by individual children. Children under two will not be fed berries, candies, raisins, corn kernels, raw carrots, whole grapes, hot dogs, nuts, seeds, popcorn, raw peas, or peanut butter, per DCFS licensing standards.
What Will My Child Learn?
PALS Peoria Daycare has a curriculum tailored to our age groups: infants, toddlers, 2s and 3s and preschoolers.
Our staff holds Early Childhood licenses and keeps up with the latest research and innovations in the age-appropriate education of children. The foundation is laid at PALS for tremendous success in elementary school and beyond. We work with you to develop the full potential of your child.
